Launched on National Voter Registration Day, ARISE social media informed and prepared the community for election day and emphasized why #GenZVotes. Participants submitted photos with the call to action and personal statements about why they vote. Read some of them here!
“I voted because my ancestors couldn’t. I voted because it is an opportunity that many people do not have. Though it may feel as though we as citizens do not have as much power as we hope, we have more power than we think. We have people power and by acting on our civic duty and voting, we have the power to create systems change. So why did I vote? I voted because my vote is impactful and it matters. If it didn’t matter, our ancestors wouldn’t have fought as hard to have that very right. For that reason, I am a Gen Z that votes.”

“My name is Samuel Lurssen and I’m a college freshman currently attending CCRI. I am a middle child in a family full of immigrants, including parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Being a minority living in a low income household my whole life, I want to vote for a president who will make conditions better for other minorities and people of low income families. To me, voting means being the change you think the country needs based on your own experiences.”
